Ontario’s integrity commissioner, J. David Wake, has recommended Independent MPP Randy Hillier be reprimanded after he investigated to complaints by fellow MPPs.
The National Post reports that Wake found the Lanark-Frontenac Kingston MPP violated the province’s Members’ Integrity Act.
One complaint had to do with Hillier using his office for partisan purposes, while the other was about social media posts Hillier made using names and images of people he falsely claimed suffered serious injury or death from COVID-19 vaccines.
Wake recommends the legislature reprimand Hillier, but also acknowledged it was unlikely that would happen before the spring election.
In February, the Ontario legislature adopted a motion barring Hillier unanimously after he referred to federal Transport Minister Omar Alghabra as a terrorist in a Tweet.
