Perth Mayor John Fenik announced on Lake 88 that he is seeking re-election.
Fenik had said as recently as last December that he was not going to seek re-election.
But he tells Lake 88 that the lure of unprecedented growth and the risk of Perth being overtaken by urban-sprawl of high-end homes disconnecting it from the beautiful community it is now, has prompted him to run again.
Fenik says development has to be well-managed in the coming years to preserve everything special about Perth. He says the town needs experience around the council table as that happens.
Fenik was first elected to council more than 20 years ago and has also served as Lanark County Warden three times, including the current term.
He is the first declare that he is running for the position in the next election set for October 24th, 2022.
