The Smiths Falls Racism and Discrimination Task Force submitted an action plan with recommendations to council on how to make the town more inclusive.
In a response, council accepted all recommendations and pledged to act on all of them “as time and budget permits.”
Councillor Peter McKenna, a member of the task force, said one of the suggestions would see an area of reflection for the community.
The Councillor says the report represents all residents of the town, and beyond.
Some of the other suggestions include having Smiths Falls join the Canadian Coalition of Municipalities against Racism and Discrimination, providing training to town staff regarding racism in the workplace, and have a page on their website dedicated to diversity and inclusiveness.
