Outgoing Independent Lanark-Frontenac-Kingston MPP Randy Hillier will next have his local case for breaking public safety rules before a judge in late August.
Hillier who has announced that he is not seeking re-election, last had his case heard on April 26th. The next date has been set for August 23rd at 9 a.m.
The charges in this case stem from a “No More Lockdowns” rally at Lower Reach Park in May of 2021. It had been billed as a meet and greet and drew dozens to the park, most of whom were not respecting public health precautions.
Hillier was ticketed for organizing the event which went against the Reopening Ontario Act.
Hillier will be represented by the Justice Centre for Constitutional Freedoms in the case.
The former Conservative Party of Ontario MPP faces other charges related to anti-masking and anti-lockdown rallies in other communities across the province.
He also faces a number of charges in Ottawa related to the Freedom Convoy occupation in February.
