Drivers along Highway 15 in Lombardy should take note that Rideau Lakes has created a new Community Safety Zone.
Fines for speeding and related offences are doubled under the Highway Traffic Act in the zone.
The Township, police, and government officials have been working in partnership with the Upper Canada District School Board, local parents and churches, and the Lombardy Agricultural Society to get the zone established.
The stretch from just north of Kellys Road to south of Country Road 1 has been the site of many collisions over the years.
