May is Sexual Assault Awareness month and Lanark County Interval House has teamed up with the Women’s Sexual Assault Centre Renfrew County to show survivors our communities support and stand with them.
The “We Stand with Survivors” campaign is now underway in Lanark County.
A banner commemorating the month and campaign is hanging in Perth, reminding victims of sexual assault that they are not alone.
Interval House Executive Director Erin Lee said, “We are joining this campaign as a way of letting survivors of sexual abuse/assault know that we support them,” Erin Lee, Executive Director at Lanark County Interval House said.
Businesses in Perth are also displaying “We Stand with Survivors” posters in their windows during the month as a show of support.
Join us for more on the special month when we welcome Interval House’s Erin Lee and Emma Kinsmen at 8:10 Friday morning.
Interval House says the campaign is the result of research completed in Renfrew County as Part of a Status of Women Canada Project. The “We Stand with Survivors” campaign comes as a direct response to what survivors wanted.
