At Wednesday night’s live-streamed all candidates event for local LFK contenders, most participants found agreements in their party’s platforms and the most pressing needs of the riding.
The event was presented by the Carleton Place and District Chamber of Commerce in partnership with the Lanark Federation of Agriculture and carried by COGECO’s YourTV.
The evening’s moderator, Andrea McCoy Naperstkow, began the event by announcing Ontario PC candidate John Jordan would not be participating due to illness.
Jordan confirmed with Lake 88 that COVID was the reason for his absence and his positive status was discovered on Tuesday.
While few shots were taken during the evening at the incumbent PCs, Liberal hopeful Amanda Pulker-Mok explained her opposition to some of Premier Doug Ford’s policies.
NDP candidate Drew Cumpson explained in his introductory remarks what makes him the right MPP for Lanark Frontenac Kingston.
Green Party Candidate Marlene Spruyt, a former medical officer of health, explained her party’s aim for balance.
In all, the candidates from three of the four largest parties in the province spent two hours together in studio answering questions on their parties’ approaches to issues of local concern on a wide variety of topics.
Our local election coverage shifts to Leeds-Grenville-Thousand Islands and Rideau Lakes on today’s edition of In Focus when we welcome Green Party Candidate Fiona Jager after the news@noon, only on Lake 88.
