Sticker shock for Councillors in Carleton Place as price for water treatment plant improvements take off like a geyser

At this week’s Committee of The Whole meeting for Carleton Place council, councillors got a firsthand look at the effects of today’s inflation rates.

Councillors were shocked to learn of the price tag for the water treatment plant’s expansion and capacity upgrades.

As consulting engineer Pierre Wilder explained:

Senior town staff at the meeting assured council that funding would come out of development charges and not property taxes.
