Rideau Paddlefest returns to Lower Reach Park in Smiths falls on June 11th, after a two-year pandemic induced hiatus.
Organizers call it a celebration of the history and culture of the canal.
The key attraction of the day is the voyageur canoe races that sees teams race to see who can be first to propel a 34-foot canoes across the finish line.
The one-day event also features paddling demonstrations, a photo contest, and educational displays including climate change mitigation activities, among other things.
This year’s Paddlefest will include a new event, a night paddle beginning at dusk. To find out more, just call 613-283-8338.
