NDP Leader Andrea Horwath meets with LFK NDP Candidate Drew Cumpson
NDP Leader Andrea Horwath made a brief stop in Smiths Falls on Wednesday to visit Lanark-Frontenac-Kingston candidate Drew Cumpson.
We caught up with her and asked her about a big issue in our listening area, affordable housing. Horwath says her party has a plan and she knows prices have to come down.
We also asked her what the NDP plans to do to help first-time homebuyers actually buy a house.
Horwath also admits that some won’t ever be able to own homes, so rental prices need to be addressed.
Building more traditional social housing will also help with the overall demand and ultimately the price of rental units, according to Horwath.
The Hamilton-based leader also made it clear that the plan includes communities like those in our listening area, and not just big cities.
All this would only come to fruition should the NDP win the most seats when we vote in the Ontario General Election on June 2nd.
