The health unit wants to make sure that anyone who was without power for an extended period is taking precautions to protect their health.
One area they’re concerned about is food. We told you shortly after the lights went out that they recommended getting rid of refrigerated foods after 24 hours without power.
Senior Health Inspector with the Leeds, Grenville and Lanark District Health Unit Kim McCann tells us its very important to make sure you’ve cleaned your fridge, and other places you store fresh food after its gone.
McCann says other areas of concern are local wells.
McCann also reminds those of us with them, to check on septic tanks.
McCann also says you want to make sure your pump is working properly so the sewage winds up where its supposed to.
