The Good Food Bank at the Table CFC in Perth
Rising prices of everyday necessities like housing and gas means more people are using food banks and have to get creative with their food budgets.
Food Banks Canada says clear across the country, more people are turning to their services because of the rising cost of pretty much everything we need in our day-to-day lives.
Ramsey Hart, the Executive Director of the Table Community Food Bank in Perth says so far in 2022 the average number of visits is up over the same time in 2021, which could certainly be explained by the rise in food prices.
Hart also says though, thanks to a generous community and good management, they can handle it.
Hart is also offering some helpful tips for people who are experiencing sticker-shock when cashing out at local grocery stores.
He says there are many ways that people can maximize the impact of food budgets, while still getting what we need nutrition-wise.
Sometimes we need to get creative, and look for substitutes.
