Last week we told you about the plans to rebuild Rideau Lakes Fire Station no. 2 in Lombardy, after the original had burned down in Portland back in December of last year.
Rideau Lakes Mayor Arie Hoogenboom tells Lake 88 that a lot of thought went into the new location.
Hoogenboom who says the new location will provide better coverage to the township and allow for more cooperation with neighbouring fire departments.
Hoogenboom says the new station is modern, and most of the costs are covered.
Construction of the new station at Hwy 15 and Otter Lake Rd. should begin next spring.
