That was a tornado briefly circling in the skies above Carleton Place last week.
Researchers with Western University’s Northern Tornadoes Project confirmed it happened during the storms last Thursday, June 16 in an open field at about 4:10.
A Tweet by the Northern Tornadoes project says in part, “The tornado persisted for several minutes … and caused no damage according to witnesses. Further investigation is pending, including satellite imagery review.”
It’s been rated an EF0 because it didn’t do any damage.
NTP investigations of the severe storms of June 16th in ON & QC have resulted in the confirmation of two supercell tornadoes in ON – an EF0 at Brooklin and an EF0-Default at Carleton Place.
