A forthcoming property standards by-law update will have quality of housing as a key focus for Smiths Falls.
It last saw an update in 2015, and in February the town brought in Dillon Consulting to help craft an update to include a few different areas of importance.
Renters across Ontario are looking for help outside the overwhelmed Landlord and Tenant Board after their housing unit has fallen into disrepair.
Rory Baksh of Dillon Consulting broke down the overall purpose of including this in a new-look by-law.
Baksh said it’ll serve as a nudge to landlords, with the assurance that further action can be taken.
The next step in this process is further public consultation and refining the draft by-law before it makes its way to council chambers for approval.
