The popular tournament and fundraiser Docs on Ice is poised for a return next year.
Dr. Bob Van Noppen of the Perth and Smiths Falls District Hospital told Smiths Falls council they’ve booked the ice for next year and are asking for the rental fee to be reduced from normal rates to minor hockey costs.
He told council the event is a great way to have doctors mix and mingle, and do some good at the same time.
It’ll be four years since the last tournament when March 31st 2023 rolls around, with the 2019 event drawing NHL players to Smiths Falls.
Councilor Wendy Alford said reducing the fees is a small gesture they can make to support these doctors.
Town staff were directed to make a report to investigate further.
