At the request of councilor Wendy Alford, Smiths Falls staff will oversee a review of the 31 committees and groups which currently exist under their municipal umbrella to find redundancies.
Alford says over the course of a municipal term certain committees can outlive their usefulness and they’re no longer needed.
Councilor Peter McKenna voiced his support of Alford, adding similar actions are taking place at the county level.
Councilor Jay Brennan supported the idea but questioned the timing, with elections upcoming and more staff away on holidays.
