Nineteen paramedics from the Lanark County Paramedic Service have been honoured with “Save Pins” from the Regional Paramedic Program for Eastern Ontario.
The pins were presented during their continuing medical education training held over the past several weeks and are awarded to paramedics who respond to a cardiac arrest resuscitation where the patient is able to leave the hospital alive.
In total, 23 pins were given out as several paramedics received more than one.
Lanark County Paramedic President and CEO Mary Wilson Trider says “Behind each of these pins is a patient and their family. I know that this is what motivates our paramedics to do their best, every day.”
Chief Travis Mellema says his paramedics are highly skilled professionals.” He added, “Sadly, not every situation has the potential for a save, but the training and regular practice our paramedics undertake helps them to provide excellent care to all of our patients.”
