COVID-19 vaccines for children as young as six months old are right around the corner, and the health unit says it has a plan in place to get them into the arms of our youngest residents.
While they will be hosting clinics, Leeds Grenville and Lanark District Health Unit Medical Officer of Health Dr. Paula Stewart says most parents would probably take another route.
You can contact your primary health care provider for more information if that’s the route you chose.
Stewart says when it comes to either their planned clinics or family doctors, they need to have a certain number of recipients lined up before the shots are given.
If you do elect to go the Health Unit clinic route, Dr. Stewart says there will be plenty of experience with administering shots to kids on hand.
The health unit could get the first shipment of the approved Moderna vaccines for kids at the end of July or beginning of August.
We’ll let you know when the clinics begin.
