A car thief in Smiths Falls may have gotten more than they bargained for.
The Smiths Falls Police Service reported the theft of a silver 2020 Acura RDX from a Lombard St. business this weekend.
Inside the vehicle was the owners’ full grown Golden Retriever named “Piper.” Police put the word out about the car and the missing dog right away.
The service says they are happy to report that they were able to track the car, which was then found by the OPP in Trenton.
A man has been arrested and will be facing a number of charges.
Piper was also recovered safe and sound and returned to his owners.
