Lisa LaFlamme is out as CTV National News lead anchor after in her own words she was “blindsided” by the decision to replace her.
The announcement came Monday and the network says Omar Sachedina will be Chief News Anchor and Senior Editor of the program starting September 5th. The 58-year-old LaFlamme took to Twitter saying she was informed in late June of the decision.
She said she was asked to keep the news confidential until the specifics of her exist could be resolved.
In a Bell Media press release, it said it was “recognizing changing viewer habits” as it moved “the role of its Chief News Anchor in a different direction.”
LaFlamme has been on the air for 35 years starting her journey in Kitchener in 1989. In her video she said that her departure was not her choice but thanked the viewers, her family and her colleagues.
