Kemptville District Hospital Administration tells Lake 88 they have had to make the very difficult decision to temporarily close the Emergency Department nightly from 7PM to 7AM due to staffing issues.
This partial closure came into effect Wednesday evening and remains in effect through September 5, 2022, with 24-hour emergency services resuming at 7AM on Tuesday, September 6, 2022.
“Like hospitals across the country, KDH is experiencing a sustained, system-wide pressure on our emergency department staffing levels due to COVID-related absences, vacations, staff fatigue and burnout, explained the hospital’s Chief Executive Officer, Frank J. Vassallo.
The hospital says it is actively trying to recruit more staff.
