School buses in our region are now equipped with new safety lights, adding on another layer of safety for our kids as they travel to class.
Student Transportation Eastern Ontario’s Janet Murray tells us you’ll have more of a warning that a bus is going to stop.
Red means stop. Both ways. On Highways too.
That’s where the most problems occur with complaints coming in every year about drivers sailing by stopped buses, lights flashing, putting lives in danger.
Murray says when buses are letting passengers off is when you need to pay close attention.
If you don’t stop you could be fined up to $4,000, lose six points from your license and repeat offenders could face half a year in jail.
