The Upper Canada District School Board and Catholic District School Board of Eastern Ontario are welcoming students back for another academic year today.
Both are following provincial guidelines when it comes to COVID-19 rules, which includes relaxed masking guidelines.
The boards are both following guidance from the Ontario Chief Medical Officers of Health when it comes to their approach to another year in the pandemic.
Masking remains optional for students and staff in both boards. Those wishing to wear one will have their choices respected.
If a child is sick they are asked to stay home. For ten days after the onset of symptoms the students will be required to wear a mask, even at school.
Other precautions will be in place such as ventilation upgrades in classes and the availability of hand sanitizer for all to use.
