The County of Lanark is moving around some provincial funding around that is guided towards early childhood education.
The county received over $472,000 from the province under the 2022 Child Care and Early Youth Workforce Funding program and are reallocating the money which remains to help bring in more Early Childhood Educators.
Time are tough when it comes to finding staff in most fields, and childcare is no exception.
The county’s Early Years Specialist Chelsea Coe says demand has grown but not the supply, with the incoming $10 per day childcare program.
Coe says they’re doing a major marketing push, but it’s not been successful so far.
The county’s reallocating part the funding to enhance marketing, training, professional development and mentorship opportunities in hopes it lures people into the field or keeps them in it.
