Green Party President Lorraine Rekmans, a frequent candidate for the party in Leeds-Grenville-Thousand Islands and Rideau Lakes, announced she has quit out of frustration, proclaiming the party’s dream is “dead.”
Rekmans took the job a year ago; the Greens were in meltdown after an attempt to dump former leader Annamie Paul before a federal election.
Rekmans believed she could help the Greens regain momentum, while transforming into a vibrant, inclusive party, while meeting the challenge of protecting the planet. She says those hopes weren’t realized.
She also says she has no confidence in any of the leadership contestants and called for the leadership race to be called off.
