The investigation into Sunday’s fire at Spartan Pizzeria in Carleton Place continues.
The owner of the burned down business says he received a strange phone call after the blaze.
The owner, who’s family is asking that his name not be used, says he received the call on Monday. The caller said, “I burned your store and am I going to burn your house.”
He also says the person on the other line used disgusting racist language during the brief call, and told the owner, “You do not belong here.”
It hasn’t deterred the man who is now looking for a temporary spot to set up shop to continue serving the people of Carleton Place. His family says he loves the town.
The pizzeria’s old home is a complete loss. It also housed another business and two residential units, one of which was occupied. No one was hurt in the blaze.
There is no word on an official cause just yet, nor is there an estimate on damages.
We will have more on this story in the coming days.
