Lanark County Interval House, ReDefine Arts and the Town of Smiths Falls regret to announce that the planned unveiling of the new community engaged pebble mosaic has been postponed to next spring.
It was originally slated to be revealed September 29th.
In a social media post the Interval House said despite great efforts by the town, unanticipated sector strikes, labour shortages, and supply chain issues have led to delays in the completion of the project set to be placed in Smiths Falls Town Square.
The Interval House say the location for this mosaic was carefully chosen, and that having the mosaic located in a central, public, accessible site demonstrates a commitment to ending gender-based violence and to providing opportunities for public education and ongoing conversation around this serious issue.
The mosaic will act as a tangible representation of community action against gender-based violence.
Instead of the installation and full review, there’ll be a sneak preview video posted on the 29th sharing images of the mosaic and of the building sessions.
Permanent installation followed by the official unveiling of the mosaic will happen in May, 2023 during sexual assault awareness month.
