Smiths Falls hospital birthing unit closed for three weeks

The Perth and Smiths Falls District Hospital have closed the Obstetrical (Labour & Delivery) Department, located at the Smiths Falls site.

Citing “staff issues,” the unit will be temporarily closed until October 10th.
The team at PSFDH is working with area hospitals, ambulance services and families to ensure proper supports are in place.

Anyone requiring immediate medical help are asked to call 911 and paramedics will bring patient to the nearest emergency department for care.

Both the Perth and Smiths Falls campuses have seen closures, including the emergency department, in the past months due to staffing shortages and COVID-19 outbreaks.
