There will be several ceremonies across our listening area marking Truth and Reconciliation Day, also known as Orange Shirt Day, tomorrow.
The Lanark County Neighbours for Truth and Reconciliation will be hosting an Orange Shirt Day Ceremony at Last Duel Park in Perth.
It begins at 5:30pm and honours the Indigenous children who suffered at Residential Schools and those who did not make it home, along with their families and communities. It takes place at the Perth Healing Forest Memorial at the park and all are welcome to attend and show respects.
The town of Smiths Falls is hosting a Community Walk tomorrow in recognition of day. All are invited to gather at Centennial Park tomorrow at 6:15pm for the walk to Duck Island. The Town is also hosting a Community Sunset Ceremony.
The Town’s water tower has been lit up in orange since the 19th and the ‘Every Child Matters’ flag has been raised at Lower Reach Park marking the day.
