A 38-year-old Kingston man is facing nearly 100 charges following an ongoing investigation into the alleged luring of women and girls through social media platforms for the purpose of exploitation.
That’s known as human trafficking.
Kingston police say a joint investigation with the O-P-P, Ottawa, and Peterborough police services initially identified 10 victims who are now in safe.
Michael Mark Haaima was arrested in April but additional victims were identified in the ongoing investigation, resulting in further charges being laid.
Haaima has been charged with 95 offences in all, including 20 counts of sexual assault, and one count of trafficking a person under the age of 18.
