Last week we told you about Smiths Falls native Brooke Henderson making a surprise visit to her old school in the town, Chimo Elementary.
She also made a surprise donation on behalf of Skechers, one of her sponsors, of $5,000 to the Upper Canada District School Board (UCDSB) Champions For Kids Foundation (C4K).
As part of the event, 50 students ranging from Kindergarten to Grade 8 were invited to the school’s gym under the guise of a ‘golf 101’ session. They were then surprised by Henderson and the Skechers Canada crew and given some of their own golf swag to take home.
After the formalities, Henderson visited with students, taking selfies, and signing autographs.
C4K helps to level the playing field for UCDSB students and their families with a focus on aiding children to participate in summer camps, sports, dance lessons, and other activities that help them thrive outside the classroom. The Foundation also helps families with unexpected costs or when they’re in need of extra support, providing items such as eyeglasses, EpiPens, and warm clothing during the winter.
