Lanark County is looking at hiring an outside company to handle grant applications on their behalf.
They’ll be putting out an RFP and review any applications they get to see if it’s something they want to pursue.
County clerk Jasmin Ralph says removing the onus on staff to find grants would free them up for other responsibilities.
But they’d still have a say in which grants they’d want the outside company to prioritize.
Councillor Peter McKenna says if this was pursued and deemed a success, he’d like to see further collaboration.
The company would receive a percentage fee of the successful grant, and no compensation on unsuccessful applications.
The county will make a decision on if they should move forward with a one-year trial run partnership once they hear back on the RFP’s.
