We’re celebrating another successful Lake 88 Radiothon for local hospitals and health centres.
This year your generous donations total more than $107,000.
That money goes to purchase equipment for the hospitals and help fund programs at the health centres.
Our station partnered with the Almonte General Hospital/Fairview Manor Foundation, the Carleton Place & District Memorial Hospital Foundation, the Perth and Smiths Falls District Hospital Foundation, as well as Country Roads Community Health Centre, ConnectWell Community Health and Rideau Community Health Services.
For the Perth and Smiths Falls District Hospital, their cut means a big part of the $96,000 needed for eight new inpatient beds will be covered. The Almonte General puts money towards new ER lighting. The Carleton Place hospital can buy equipment for its new Emergency Department too.
In making the grand total announcement, Lake 88 station manager Brian Perkin was blown away by the support, noting that our listeners came through despite what are currently tough economic times for many.
Perkin also noted the total could inch up in the coming days as some late additions are tallied.
The hospital foundations and health centres all thank the public for their support and donations, as do we here at Lake 88.
