The Perth and Smiths Falls District Hospital reports that it is currently seeing a high volume of patients admitted to the hospital and in it’s Emergency Departments at both sites.
They noted that on Monday, occupancy rates hit 110% with more than 10 patients admitted to the hospital, but stikll in the Emergency Department with no available beds.
The statement said in part, “Our team is working hard to provide high quality health care services to everyone that comes through our doors, however our wait times will be much higher than usual. We recognize this is frustrating to
you and your loved ones and we appreciate your patience.”
They stress that anyone experiencing a life-threatening condition or critical injury should call 911 without hesitation, or go to the closest ER. They are still prioritizing cases as they come in.
