The surge continues: Six more local COVID-19 deaths last week

The latest surge of COVID-19 cases has hit locally, as the Leeds, Grenville & Lanark District Health Unit reported six additional deaths from the virus in their weekly numbers Tuesday.

The death toll jumped to 130 from 124, where it sat last week.

There are three more cases in the ICU which brings the total up to five, and one person is on a ventilator.

Six new high risk cases were added to sit at 226 with six new hospitalizations, for a total of 15.

There are eight ongoing outbreaks as well. Five in congregate care facilities, one in a communal living facility, and one classified by the health unit as “other.”
