Get set to have a bowl of soup for a great cause in Carleton Place.
Shelter Movers, a national, volunteer-powered charity that provides free moving and storage to people experiencing abuse, have just expanded their services to Lanark County.
They’re inviting you to take part in SoupShare at the Carleton Place Canoe Club on November 17 from 12-2:30PM where you can enjoy a free soup lunch, vote for the best bowl in Lanark County, and learn about the new service.
The Culleton Kuzy and Warmerdam inquest into a triple-femicide in Renfrew County resulted in numerous recommendations. We highlight a different one in partnership with Lanark County Interval House every Thursday on Lake 88.
One of the recommendations is to increase support services for victims. As a result, Shelter Movers is proud to announce the local Interval House as their first referral agency in the region making their moving service available for those he need it here.
Interval House Executive Director Erin Lee says, “This is a basic, fundamental right. People need to be able to move on and people need to be supported to move on… I hope that everybody will step up and help sustain Shelter Movers as we move forward.”
Shelter Movers is a national, volunteer-powered charitable organization. They’re operating in six cities across Canada, and their volunteers move an average of 117 families each month.
