Smiths Falls has joined the ranks of Fire Departments across Ontario seeking more volunteer firefighters.
Chief Rick Chesebrough says it takes a dedicated person.
He says there is a time commitment that anyone volunteering has to prepare for, and quite a bit of training. The Chief also says finding volunteers isn’t as easy as it once was.
There’s no cost to volunteers and the move could actually set them up for a career in firefighting as an active member of a fire department.
