Lanark County Council is in Lame Duck status right now.
That’s because 10 councillors are departing to be replaced by newcomers around the horseshoe after the municipal elections last month.
Lame Duck status happens when less than 75% of the current council is re-elected.
It means they have limited powers until the next council is sworn in. They can’t hire of fire anyone who works for the county, or make any big purchase decisions, among other things.
They’ll be in this position until November 22nd.
