A funeral will be held today for Constable Shaelyn Yang, the BC RCMP officer who was fatally stabbed in the line of duty on Oct. 18th.
Since her death Mounties have said there has been an outpouring of condolences.
Among them local police officers like Smiths Falls Constable Aaron Tompkins who told us a contingent from his police service will be attending yet another service for a fallen officer.
The RCMP officer was the fifth Canadian officer to be killed in the line of duty in October. Tompkins says those are frightening numbers.
The local constable also says the show of support is very much appreciated by the families of fallen officers during a terrible time in their lives.
Tompkins and other officers in the SFPS say they are grateful that administration supports their officers attending the funerals and often travel with them to pay their respects too.
Officers from Lanark County OPP also attend the funerals.
