A resident of Mississippi Mills is counting their blessings this morning after their ATV collided with a tractor trailer last night.
It happened just before 8:00 PM. The ATV was heading northbound in the southbound lane of 29 near Cedar Hill Side Rd. in Lanark. The truck was headed southbound, saw the vehicle and made a life-saving evasive manoeuver. The ATV hit the wheels of the double trailer, instead of hitting it head-on.
The rider was brought to the Civic Hospital in Ottawa and is being treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
The truck driver wasn’t hurt.
The driver of the ATV, who won’t be identified because of their age, is now facing Impaired Driving charges in addition to multiple provincial offenses.
You’re reminded its not safe to operate any vehicle while impaired and doing so can come with severe punishments.
