Ontario Premier Doug Ford made his offer and the Union is willing to play ball.
The province is repealing legislation that imposed a contract on 55,000 education workers and banned them from striking, if the workers’ union agrees to end a walkout that’s shut many schools.
The legislation also would have used the notwithstanding clause to guard against constitutional challenges, and Ford says today he understands that is controversial.
With several other union heads by her side, CUPE’s Laura Walton, an EA from Belleville, responded.
So, it looks like kids could be back in school as soon as tomorrow.
Hundreds of thousands of students have been out of class since last Friday, including all of those in the Upper Canada District School Board and the Catholic District School Board of Eastern Ontario.
Confirmation on kids being back in class tomorrow is expected soon.
