The bridge is out (for a day) – Rideau Ferry Bridge closed until 5pm

A reminder that a major traffic artery is out of service for the day.

The Rideau Ferry Bridge will be closed completely for expansion joint and bearing replacements from 8 until 5 today so they can get closer to wrapping work on it for the season.

If possible, it is best to take Highway 43 between Smiths Falls and Perth.

A second closure is expected for next week, though we’re still waiting for the details to be announced.

The bridge will also be down to one lane again next spring and summer as they work on completing its restoration.
