CUPE's Laura Walton addresses the media after the strike notice was given
CUPE has filed a five-day strike notice on behalf of its 55,000 Ontario education workers after talks for a new contract came to a crashing halt once again.
Education Minister Stephen Lecce says the government is disappointed, adding the province has tabled multiple improved offers that would see the pay for the lowest earners in the union, and others, addressed.
CUPE’s Laura Walton says its not just about money but also about improving student services. She says parents have demanded more for their kids.
It was just a couple weeks ago that thousands of workers, including education assistants, librarians and custodians, walked off the job shutting hundreds of schools to in-person learning for two days.
