Lanark, Leeds, and Grenville is struggling like the rest of the country with the so-called triple threat of respiratory viruses this year, COVID-19, RSV and the Flu.
That threat is what prompted the province’s top doctor, Kieran more to “strongly suggest” we mask up in public once again to help protect our most vulnerable citizens.
The Health Unit’s Medical Officer of Health Linna Li says masking is one part of the equation.
The doctor says she hopes that everyone in Lanark, Leeds, and Grenville agrees that masking can make a big difference.
The doctor says adding masking to other layers or prevention, like washing hands and cleaning hard surfaces in your home, will help reduce the stress on our hospitals, that are already challenged by the ongoing staffing shortages.
She also says making sure COVID-19 vaccinations and flu shots are up to date will only help too.
Kids have been hit hard by flu and RSV this year. The doctor says any preventative measures we take only improves things for those young patients and the healthcare workers who take care of them.
