Lanark Highlands Reeve Peter McLaren was handed the warden gavel by John Fenik Tuesday afternoon after being elected to serve in that capacity for 2023.
McLaren considers county council as another family.
McLaren says one of the biggest challenges facing the county right now is one they’ve discussed many times before.
Two names were put forth as nominees to sit in the top county chair, in McLaren and Beckwith Reeve Richard Kidd. Their fellow councilors then participated in a silent ballot vote.
In respect to who will chair the other county committees, no voting was required. Each new chairperson stood alone and was acclaimed into their role. They’re broken down as follows:
Corporate Services – Christa Lowry
Community Services – Judy Brown
Economic Development Committee – Richard Kidd
Public Works – Steve Fournier
