Rideau Lakes OPP, local fire departments and Lanark County Paramedics responded to a collision on Saturday in Portland that led to a vehicle fire, which spread to a nearby house.
OPP report that shortly after 6:20 that evening, the passenger vehicle left the roadway and hit a house at 2719 Hwy. #15 in Portland. A fire ignited and consumed the home and the vehicle.
The 73-year-old driver and the 85-year-old passenger of the vehicle were both rescued and transported to hospital with minor injuries. Both are expected to make full recoveries.
The building, which was a total loss, was thankfully unoccupied at the time.
