Grey and Bruce Counties in partnership with the Grey Bruce Health Unit and Bruce Power are doing what they can to open community recovery centres.
They are planning to open these spots at the Davidson Centre in Kincardine, the P&H Centre in Hanover and a third place is under discussion and will be determined based off local need.
There would be 50 beds at each recovery facility but this will only be activated if situation becomes more severe.
These centres will not be designed for critical or high level care, they will be there to provide patient support which includes non-critical overflow patients who may be returning to long term care or retirement facilities.
Grey Bruce Medical Officer of Health, Dr. Ian Arra, assures residents they are well serviced by a strong health care system.
He adds “setting up these recovery centres is being done out of an abundance of caution and is one way that the county of Grey and the County of Bruce can be prepared to mitigate the potential negative impacts of the outbreak.”
