With COVID-19 having less of an impact on intensive care units than anticipated, hospitals and Family Health Teams in Grey Bruce are banding together to support local long-term care and retirement homes.
Administration and physicians at South Bruce Grey Health Centre and Hanover & District Hospital have been meeting with eight long-term care homes in the region, and EMS for the two counties to offer support and identify challenges.
Michael Barrett, Health Centre President and CEO, says they are prepared to redeploy hospital staff to work in long-term care facilities if staffing challenges arise.
Dana Howes, hospital President & CEO adds there will be ongoing collaboration with local long-term care facilities to address their COVID-19 pandemic response needs.
