Lanark County has some capital funding and is looking for a non-profit organization to use some to build affordable housing.
Now in the fifth year of its 10-Year Housing and Homelessness Plan, the county is looking to add 10 new housing units before year’s end.
Director of Social Services Emily Hollington says there’s preference to a non-profit organization because they’re in it for the right reasons.
Half of the ten units would be classified as affordable housing, the other half as rent-geared-to-income.
The county will issue a request for proposal to gauge interest and view applications for the project.
